Apples (26) which I find is a good starter size. My six
year old uses this size and goes from one letter to the next to introduce
joining. I don’t encourage her to join letters that complete to the left, but
it would be possible to do so. An alternative is
Jarmandotted, which can also be
italicised if you prefer, but cannot be made more upright. This
is more similar to the Getty & Dubay style and perhaps leads more
naturally into the joins. Another similar font to these is ‘
Boring Boring’ - which, if fiddled
with, can be made to join - like this ( size 28, condensed
spacing by 2pts). As you can see they all make
excellent starters. Print this page and let your child have a play with
it, see which fits them best . |
Any of these texts can be made to work in italics and all can be
greyed out. |
